Spacecraft formation reconfiguration with dynamic collision avoidance

2013 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2013
In this paper we present three different solutions to the collision avoidance problem for spacecraft formations based on the Null-Space Based (NSB) behavioral control concept. In the first case, a constant sized sphere of safety area is centered on each spacecraft and obstacle, and the collision avoidance task is activated when this area is entered ...

Teleoperated mobile robot groups with reconfigurable formation

2014 IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions (ICARSC), 2014
In this paper a formation control algorithm is proposed for teleoperated mobile robot groups. A leader robot is teleoperated directly by the human operator using a primary haptic device. The rest of the mobile robots follow the virtual reference structure attached to the leader.

Pattern Reconfigurable Antenna for Formation Flying Missions

International Journal on Communications Antenna and Propagation (IRECAP), 2021
In this paper, an innovative compact pattern reconfigurable antenna is proposed and developed to establish an inter-satellite communication link between the Formation flying spacecraft. The reconfigurable beam switching antenna comprises a driven Monopole at the center, encompassed with four Reconfigurable Selective Reflectors (RSR) which act as RF ...

Spacecraft Formation Reconfiguration in Elliptic Reference Orbits

AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Conference, 2013
This paper deals with the maneuver method for the spacecraft formation reconfiguration in the elliptic reference orbit considering two control input types. During the satellite operation, the formation size and/or geometry should be modified according to the mission requirements and space environment.

Deep space formation reconfiguration using pseudospectral method

2010 3rd International Symposium on Systems and Control in Aeronautics and Astronautics, 2010
In this paper we employ pseudospectral method to solve the problem of trajectory optimization for satellites formation reconfiguration in deep space. The basic problem is all the satellites take a specified rest-to-rest maneuver synchronously without colliding with each other. First, the state and input vectors are discretized at Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto

Energy and time efficient formation reconfiguration strategies

Proceedings of the 48h IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) held jointly with 2009 28th Chinese Control Conference, 2009
Energy-efficient and time-efficient reconfiguration strategies for formation flying of autonomous agents are presented. It is assumed that a finite set of possible formations is given, and that the probability of each formation in this set is known a priori. The idea is to move the agents to floating stations in the idle time, i.e. the time between the

Underactuated spacecraft formation reconfiguration with collision avoidance

Acta Astronautica, 2017
Abstract Underactuated collision-free controllers are proposed in this paper for multiple spacecraft formation reconfiguration in circular orbits with the loss of either the radial or in-track thrust. A nonlinear dynamical model of underactuated formation flying is introduced, which is then linearized about circular orbits for controllability and ...

Formation Establishment and Reconfiguration Using Impulsive Control

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2005
We analyze spacecraft formation establishment and reconfiguration problems for two-body orbits. The desired formations are characterized by nonsingular orbital-elemental differences. An analytical, two-impulse solution is proposed for achieving the desired orbital-elemental differences.
