AbstractThis essay examines the relationship between novelistic form and a historical moment shaped by new technologies in Dave Eggers's The Circle (2013) and Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Moon (2018). In both, the novel form is itself positioned as a major counterforce against the malignant powers that are attempting to form the age.

INTRODUCTION in its developed form, Islamic legal theory came to recognize a variety of sources and methods from and through which the law might be derived. Those sources from which the law may be derived are the Quran and the Sunna or example of the Prophet, both of which provide the subject matter of the law.

In this chapter we introduce various notions connected to periods of automorphic forms; all of these have received extensive treatment in Shimura’s work. The period conjectures of Shimura occupy a central position in number theory today, and will be discussed in more detail in Chapter 3 and Chapter 6.

A good deal has been said about the periodic table in previous chapters, but one important aspect has not yet been addressed. This is the question of why so many different periodic tables have been published in textbooks, articles, and on the Internet. One may also wonder whether there exists an “optimal periodic table” and whether such a question even

PERIODS OF AUTOMORPHIC FORMS: THE TRILINEAR CASE
Journal of the Institute of Mathematics of Jussieu, 2015Following Jacquet, Lapid and Rogawski, we regularize trilinear periods. We use the regularized trilinear periods to compute Fourier–Jacobi periods of residues of Eisenstein series on metaplectic groups, which has an application to the Gan–Gross–Prasad conjecture.
