Forming Limit Curves and Forming Limit Stress Curves for Advanced High Strength Steels

Materials Science Forum, 2013
Experimental and numerical investigations using Forming Limit Curve (FLC) and Forming Limit Stress Curve (FLSC) were carried out for two Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) grades DP780 and TRIP780. The forming limit curves were experimentally determined by means of Nakazima stretching test.

Experimental and numerical investigations on forming limit curves in micro forming

Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies, 2020
The Forming limit diagram is an important tool in metal forming processes, as it indicates the failure limits for ductile damage and onsite necking.

Variability of forming limit curves

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1974
Summary The forming limit curve indicates the maximum uniform strain which can be achieved in an element of a sheet which is strained in a proportional biaxial straining process; it refers to the strain in a region adjacent to, but not within, any area of localized straining associated with rupture.

The forming limit curve for bending processes

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1979
Abstract The maximum strain that metal can suffer in some bulk forming processes is limited by the phenomenon of shear band formation, which precedes ductile fracture. The process of strain localization in the shear band has been analysed theoretically on the basis of the theory of plastic flow.

Forming Limit Curves in Single Point Incremental Forming

CIRP Annals, 2007
New experimental data is presented on Forming Limits in Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF), which is a sheet metal forming process which does not require dies. A Box-Behnken Design of Experiment is used to develop the experimental plan and analyze data. In former work, the most critical factors affecting Single Point Incremental Forming were found

Limiting Functional Forms for Market Demand Curves

Econometrica, 1972
On the basic assumption that individual consumption of a good is a stochastic phenomenon, the first part of this article shows that under general conditions market quantity demanded is asymptotically (as n, the number of individuals in the market, increases) distributed as normal with mean and variance a function of own price given all other prices and

Forming Limit Curves for Complex Strain Paths

Archives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2013
This paper presents results of experimental studies of forming limit curves (FLC) for sheet forming under complex strain paths. The Nakazima-type formability tests have been performed for the as-received steel blank and for the blank pre-strained by13%.

Effect of friction in stretch forming and its influence on the forming limit curve

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2014
Formability is an important property requirement in sheet metal forming and mostly useful to automobile and aerospace industries. Every product design starts with finite element simulation before the die design and material selection stage. The forming limit curve along with finite element results acts as tool to investigate whether the design is ...

Advanced Models for the Prediction of Forming Limit Curves

2016
During the forming of flat sheet metal into a more complex shape, a number of plastic instabilities may occur subsequently. A ‘plastic instability’ occurs when the zone of plastic deformation is suddenly confined to a smaller zone. The first plastic instability which usually occurs in forming processes is the onset of diffuse necking, in which plastic ...

A few methods of analytical calculation of forming-limit curves

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995
Abstract The main aim of the present work is the modification of analytical calculation methods for forming limit curves. The calculated curves were compared with experimental data for steel and aluminium sheets and the best modifications were chosen.
