Mechanism and Influencing Factors of Iron Nuggets Forming in Rotary Hearth Furnace Process at Lower Temperature

open access: yes, 2015
In order to improve the efficiency of slag and iron separation, a new idea of "the separation of slag (solid state) and iron (molten state) in rotary hearth furnace process at lower temperature" is put forward.

On the fabrication of finer grain structure through using finer wire diameter for wire arc additive manufacturing of AZ31B magnesium alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Magnesium (Mg) alloys are the lightest structural metallic material, but it is hard to be applied to various industrial fields due to the crystallographic nature that is composed with hexagonal closed packed (HCP).

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Influence of Process Parameters on the Deformation of Copper Foils in Flexible-Pad Laser Shock Forming

open access: yes, 2013
This paper investigates a new microforming technique, Flexible-Pad Laser Shock Forming (FPLSF), to produce mi-crofeatures on metallic foils without rigid punches and dies.

Simulation of tool load for axial forming process with oscillating feed

open access: yes, 2013
The axial forming process is a method of cold metal forming, which is used for the production of axially symmetric profiles and retractions at full and hollow components.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Analysis of Material Deformation and Wrinkling Failure in Conventional Metal Spinning Process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Sheet metal spinning is one of the metal forming processes, where a flat metal blank is rotated at a high speed and formed into an axisymmetric part by a roller which gradually forces the blank onto a mandrel, bearing the final shape of the spun part ...
