To the Editor.— In their recent article on chronic protracted diarrhea of infancy, Lo and Walker1 refer to some of the formulas that have been used in the management of this condition. Carbohydrate malabsorption and intolerance are frequently the factors limiting intake during rehabilitation of these infants.2 Consequently,

To the Editor.— We have previously reported1 the loss of calcium and phosphorus from premature infant formulas during simulated feedings. Since the time of that report, one of the products has been reformulated (Similac Special Care 24, Ross Laboratories, Columbus, OH).

To the Editor.— The excellent commentary by the Committee on Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics on soy-protein formulas1 needs an addition to the instances when soy-protein should not be used. Soy-protein may be harmful in cystic fibrosis of the pancreas as the protein is contaminated with trypsin inhibitors which can ...

Tube formulas from Chern's kinematic formula
1988The authors derive the well-known formula of Weyl for the volume of a tube about a compact embedded submanifold P in Euclidean space, when P is odd-dimensional, by using Chern's kinematic formula.

Toën's formula and Green's formula
Journal of Algebra, 2019This paper gives a new derivation of Green's formula on Hall numbers of a finitary hereditary abelian category \(\mathcal{A}\), which is based on Toën's formula of the multiplication structure constants in the derived Hall algebra of \(\mathcal{A}\).

Koshliakov’s Formula and Guinand’s Formula
2013In this chapter, we relate two well-known identities, with the names of N.S. Koshliakov and A.P. Guinand attached to them, which were proved by Ramanujan and recorded in his lost notebook before their discoveries by the aforementioned mathematicians. Ramanujan also derived some related formulas that have not been rediscovered by others.
