Liability for The Robot’s Own Deed

open access: yesJournal of Danubian Studies and Research, 2021
The research of the proposed theme aims to demonstrate the existence of civil legal liability in the case of agencies with artificial intelligence, not only regarding human beings. There are already several studies of scientists in this field, and they

How Does My Research Question Come About? The Impact of Funding Agencies in Formulating Research Questions

open access: yesThe Qualitative Report, 2015
It is a widespread claim that the research question should primarily come from a careful literature analysis (Creswell, 2007). Actually, it is basically a good suggestion, mainly for novices, to avoid the mistake of choosing a research method only for ideological reasons, and far from the phenomenon that one is willing to explore.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

A Practical Noise2Noise Denoising Pipeline for High‐Throughput Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A lightweight and reproducible denoising pipeline for high‐throughput Raman spectroscopy is introduced, based on a 1D convolutional autoencoder trained with a Noise2Noise strategy. Using only repeated short‐exposure acquisitions, the method suppresses stochastic noise without reference spectra, enabling reliable spectral reconstruction while preserving

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

A Minimal Formulation of Agency as an Operational Semantics Fixed Point.

open access: yes
This note presents a minimal formulation in which an agent is the fixed point of a semantic operational law acting on the task structure and its graft. Task structure specifies the abstract organization of activity; graft provides the pragmatic linguistic action required for situated use Identity, lifecycle, narrative continuity, and attestation arise ...

Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

Enhancing policy and design tools for the coexistence of new and old architectural objects in historic precincts by exploring conservation principles and design approaches

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering
New designs in historic precincts often spark considerable discourse, but there has been limited research into quality and relational aspects that allow communities to perceive the new architectural objects.
