A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

Forward Osmosis for Sustainable Water Treatment
Forward osmosis (FO) as an emerging technology has been researched extensively over the past few decades for water treatment and other applications. In FO, the water in the feed solution (at low osmotic pressure) spontaneously flows through a semipermeable membrane to the draw solution (at high osmotic pressure) under the osmotic pressure difference ...

Schematic illustration of development of experimental datasets and algorithm models, screening and preparation of the scaffolds and their applications in vivo. ABSTRACT Bone defects require materials with osteogenic, neurogenic, and angiogenic activity, yet designing such materials within high‐dimensional compositional spaces remains challenging. Here,

Salt stress significantly impacts plant growth. Through population transcriptome, eQTL and TWAS analyses, we identified several candidate genes potentially associated with salt stress response. Functional assays suggested that some of these genes may contribute to salt tolerance.

Aquaporin, forward osmosis and biomimetic membranes
Aquaporin attracted attention not only of physiologists and biophysicists, but also of chemical engineers. Here we critically analyze a paper describing aquaporin-based artificial membranes, suggested for forward osmosis-based water purification (Wang et al. 2012, Small 8, pp. 1185-1190).

BOULE is Essential for the Dynamic Disassembly of Heat Shock Granules in Male Germ Cells
BOULE orchestrates stress granule disassembly in germ cells via a two‐pronged mechanism: it promotes G3BP1 ubiquitination by upregulating TRIM27, generating a signal for VCP/FAF2 recruitment, and it maintains G3BP1 and FAF2 protein levels. BOULE deficiency disrupts disassembly complex formation, leading to impaired heat shock granule clearance ...
