The anti‐ and syn‐selective epoxidation of various α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes is promoted by an engineered variant of 2‐deoxy‐D‐ribose‐5‐phosphate aldolase (DERA), giving rise to various α,β‐epoxy‐aldehydes with excellent enantiopurity (enantiomeric ratio up to 99 : 1). Abstract The enzyme 2‐deoxy‐D‐ribose‐5‐phosphate aldolase (DERA) naturally catalyzes

Self‐Oscillation in Active Wires with Asymmetric Willis‐Type Viscosity
This study suggests a self‐oscillation strategy enabled by a new set of material parameters, namely the asymmetric Willis‐type viscosity, to bias and independently control oscillation mode shapes as well as frequencies. The exemplified active wire can benefit the development of autonomous materials to construct soft motors, agitators, pumps, and ...

The premature aging‐related progerin leads to defective nuclear morphology and is associated with disrupted molecular coupling between the extranuclear cytoskeleton and lamin‐associated nuclear envelope. It is discovered that progerin expression reduces nuclear tension, forms nuclear wrinkling, and enhances chromatin dynamics, thereby regulating ...

This study identifies a class of amino acid‐sensing neurons, APCCRH neurons, which regulate BAT thermogenesis. Leucine deficiency alters intrinsic excitability through GCN2 signaling pathway, activating APCCRH neurons, which in turn regulate BAT thermogenesis via projections to the lateral hypothalamus.

The association between BMD reduction during NAC and the worse prognosis remains unknown, although NAC followed by esophagectomy is a standard treatment for advanced ESCC. This study appeared that BMD massive reduction was an independent prognostic factor on OS (HR, 3.30; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.69–6.55) and RFS (HR, 2.08; 95% CI, 1.19–3.63 ...

An Authentic Al=Si Double Bond
We report the first example of a bona fide Al=Si double bond stabilized in a four‐membered anionic AlSi3 cycle, which exhibits an unprecedentedly short Al−Si bond length of 2.283(1) Å and a high Wiberg bond index (WBI) of 1.31. We illustrate the typical double bond reactivity through the intramolecular activation of C−H bonds of the Tip group (Tip=2,4 ...

Quenching xenon's thirst by its coordination to water in the 18‐crown‐6 complexes, [(CH2CH2O)6(H2O)XeO3] ⋅ H2O and [(CH2CH2O)6(H2O)XeO3]2⋅ 2H2O ⋅ HF, provides the first examples of Xe‐ ‐ ‐O bonded noble‐gas hydrates. These complexes, along with (CH2CH2O)4XeO3, were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, X‐ray crystallography, and computational studies ...
