Two new species of Tasiocera Skuse from Baltic amber (Diptera, Limoniidae)

open access: yesScientific Reports
The paper presents very rare fossil record of crane flies. Inclusions in Baltic amber have documented the second evidence of the existence of the genus Tasiocera (Diptera: Limoniidae: Chioneinae) in ancient epochs of Earth’s history. Hypotheses were also

The Impact on U.S. Industries of Carbon Prices with Output-Based Rebates over Multiple Time Frames [PDF]

open access: yes
The effects of a carbon price on U.S. industries are likely to change over time as firms and customers gradually adjust to new prices. The effects will also depend on the number of countries implementing the policy as well as offsetting policies to ...

Pharmaceuticals Made with Hydrogen: A Sustainable and Efficient Approach Using Flow Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a sustainable strategy for pharmaceutical manufacturing by combining hydrogen, heterogeneous catalysis, and continuous flow synthesis. The development of novel catalysts and their application in a multi‐step synthesis of donepezil enabled a highly productive process with no intermediate purification.

Harnessing Acoustic Cavitation Energy for the Selective Degradation of Impurities in Glucose Syrup

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The energy released during the implosion of acoustic cavitation bubbles can be harnessed and selectively transferred to a target solute, enabling its specific decomposition without degrading other solutes present in the solution. This proof of concept was demonstrated in the degradation of impurities present in trace amount in glucose syrup.

Production of middle distillates through olefin oligomerization using ZSM‐5 as a catalyst

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The global transportation sector relies heavily on gasoline (C5–C12) and diesel (C11–C24), which together account for approximately 60% of its energy needs. Driven by rapid industrialization and urbanization, diesel consumption is outpacing gasoline, with projections estimating global demand by 2035 at 27 million barrels per day for gasoline ...

Iron(III)‐loaded cation exchange resin: A dual approach for aqueous H2S removal and biogas desulphurization

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Left: Desulphurization method application. Right: Novel desulphurization method. Abstract The presence of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in biogas poses significant environmental and operational challenges due to its corrosive and toxic properties. Thus, this study aimed to develop a dual‐function desulphurization system using a cation exchange resin (CIER ...
