Base deformation’s features during deep foundation pit excavation
The problems of estimating the stress-strain state of the foundations during the deep foundation pits installation are considered. The results of finite element calculations in the plane formulation of the stability of the pit walls and the retaining structures' operation under dense urban development are presented.

Phase diagram for nanostructuring CaF$_2$ surfaces by slow highly charged ions
Impacts of individual slow highly charged ions on alkaline earth halide and alkali halide surfaces create nano-scale surface modifications. For different materials and impact energies a wide variety of topographic alterations have been observed, ranging ...

Tripartite to Bipartite Entanglement Transformations and Polynomial Identity Testing
We consider the problem of deciding if a given three-party entangled pure state can be converted, with a non-zero success probability, into a given two-party pure state through local quantum operations and classical communication.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Water Basin Effect of Cofferdam Foundation Pit
This study addresses the water basin effect in the underwater sand layer of steel pipe pile cofferdams by integrating the concept from building foundation pits to cofferdam foundation pit analysis. A theoretical derivation is presented for the deformation evolution of steel pipe piles and bottom seals within the cofferdam pit.

Influence of vibrations on structures [PDF]
One type of occasional structural load is a seismic load. Earthquakes and blasts are typical sources of vibrations, but vibration generated during urban tunnel construction can represent a significant problem.

Uncertain Photometric Redshifts with Deep Learning Methods
The need for accurate photometric redshifts estimation is a topic that has fundamental importance in Astronomy, due to the necessity of efficiently obtaining redshift information without the need of spectroscopic analysis.
