A nonlinear optimal four wheels steering controller

Proceedings of the 43rd IEEE Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat.No.CH37144), 2002
Four wheel steering nonlinear controller is developed to utilize the responsiveness and relaxed stability of the rear wheel steering in conjunction with front wheel steering using fuzzy logic robust controller based on Sugeno fuzzy model. Results have shown improvements in vehicle handling in the presence of noise, steering linkage play, and variation ...

A novel optimal four wheel steering control

2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. IEEE ICIT '04., 2005
Four wheel steering vehicles are being used increasingly due to high performance and stability that they bring to the vehicles. In this paper a novel high performance four wheel steered vehicle model is considered which is optimally controlled during a lane change manoeuvre in high speeds.

Optimal Control of Four Wheel Steering Vehicle

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1993
SUMMARY This paper derives a method of controlling four wheel steering using optimal control theory. The purpose of control is to minimize the sideslip angle at the center of gravity. The control method feeds forward the steering wheel angle and feeds back the yaw velocity and the sideslip angle to the front and rear wheel angles.

Design of Optimal Four-Wheel Steering System

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1995
SUMMARY Optimal design of the four wheel steering (4WS) system of the ground vehicle is studied. 4WS vehicles with the optimal control scheme are considered first. General formulation of the optimal control law is developed based on the linear quadratic regulator theory.

Handling Properties of Four Wheel Steering Vehicles

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1989
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Recently, a great deal of attention has been focused on the development of four wheel steering systems (4WS) for passenger vehicles in order to enhance their handling properties. At high speeds vehicle response can be enhanced by steering the rear wheels in the same direction as those in the front, while at low ...

Behavior-based steering control for four wheel independent steering vehicle

2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2009
This paper proposed a behavior-based steering controller for four wheel independent steering vehicle. The proposed controller acts as virtual linkages among each wheel to minimize wheel slip resulted by the misalignment of the orientations of wheels effectively. As there is no trajectory planning needed in the control algorithm, the proposed controller

Four wheel steering control by fuzzy approach

Journal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems, 2005
This study introduces a fuzzy four-wheel steering control design method for automotive vehicles. After the analysis of some stability aspects of the vehicle lateral motion, including front steering angle variations, the representation of vehicle nonlinear model by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is presented.

Handling Characteristics Of Steer Angle Dependent Four Wheel Steering System

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1988
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The rear wheel control technique for the Honda Steer Angle Dependent four wheel steering system (Honda 4WS) is based on a combination of two methods, of which one controls the rear wheel steer angle without delay by using only the steering wheel angle for control input, and the other controls the rear wheel steer ...

Development of a Four Wheel Independent Drive and Four Wheel Independent Steer Electric Vehicle

2015 Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Engineering Applications (ISDEA), 2015
A four wheel independent driving four wheel independent steering electric vehicle was developed. Chassis assembly and electrical system assembly about the vehicle are made thorough introduction of in this paper. Identity power control module is taken as the driving control approach, and both feedforward control keeping sideslip angle zero and feedback ...
