A generalization of the Fourier pseudospectral method

open access: yesGeophysics, 2010
Abstract The Fourier pseudospectral (PS) method is generalized to the case of derivatives of nonnatural order (fractional derivatives) and irrational powers of the differential operators. The generalization is straightforward because the calculation of the spatial derivatives with the fast Fourier transform is performed in the ...

The fourier pseudospectral method for three-dimensional vorticity equations

Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica, 1988
The authors propose a pseudospectral method by using generalized Riesz spherical means to solve the space-periodical problem for the three- dimensional vorticity equations (generalized Helmholtz's equation). Error estimates are given for \(\nu >0\), \(\nu =0\), and for the three level scheme in appropriate spaces.
