Patterns of weight gain during the first half of pregnancy and risk of large newborns in women with insulin‐dependent diabetes mellitus

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Objective To identify patterns of gestational weight gain (pGWG) trajectories in the first 20 weeks of gestation and to determine the association of these patterns with the delivery of large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants among women with insulin‐dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM).

Uncommon Association of Two Anatomical Variants of Cerebral Circulation: A Fetal-Type Posterior Cerebral Artery and Inferred Artery of Percheron, Complicated with Paramedian Thalamomesencephalic Stroke—Case Presentation and Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2018
Background. The unilateral fetal variant of the posterior cerebral artery (FPCA) is characterized by the congenital absence of the P1 arterial segment.

Dynamic Factor Analysis for Sparse and Irregular Longitudinal Data: An Application to Metabolite Measurements in a COVID‐19 Study

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 6-7, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Factor analysis (FA) can be used to identify key biomarkers in biological processes by assuming that latent biological pathways (statistically, “latent factors”) drive the activity of measurable biomarkers (“observed variables”). However, biological pathways often interact, meaning that the classical FA assumption of independence between ...

Advances in Modal Regression: From Theoretical Foundations to Practical Implementations

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2026.
Modal regression. ABSTRACT Modal regression has emerged as a powerful alternative to traditional mean and quantile regression by focusing on estimating the conditional mode rather than the conditional mean or quantiles. This approach offers robustness to outliers and skewed distributions while providing more informative prediction intervals for ...

Development of a Duplex Digital PCR and Validation on eDNA Water Samples for Monitoring of the Asian Swamp Eel (Monopterus albus/Javanensis) and Bullseye Snakehead (Channa aurolineata/Marulius) in Florida, USA, Freshwater Ecosystems

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The Asian swamp eel and bullseye snakehead are two invasive organisms in Florida of ecological concern. In this study, a multiplex digital polymerase chain reaction (dPCR) assay is developed, optimized, and validated on water samples for environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis and monitoring. ABSTRACT Invasive species are a significant threat to a variety of

The Effect of Posterior Communicating Artery and Fetal Posterior Cerebral Artery Anomalies on Prognosis in Endovascular and Thrombolytic Therapy Patients

open access: yesGlobal Emergency and Critical Care
Objective: Acute reperfusion therapy is a critical intervention for stroke patients with the aim of restoring blood flow. The presence of anatomical anomalies, such as fetal posterior cerebral artery (fPCA) and posterior communicating artery (PCOM ...

Survival on Image Regression With Application to Partially Functional Distributional Representation of Physical Activity

open access: yesStatistical Analysis and Data Mining: An ASA Data Science Journal, Volume 19, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Technological advancements in wearable devices and medical imaging often lead to high‐dimensional physiological signals in the form of images or surfaces. To address these data structures, we develop a novel survival on image regression model with a specific focus on partially functional distributional representation of wearable data.

Patterns of chronic ethanol drinking in male and female cynomolgus monkeys

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 2, February 2026.
These studies in male and female cynomolgus monkeys replicate previous findings of a predictive relationship between characteristics of drinking during schedule induction and later open‐access drinking. Sex differences in daily patterns of ethanol intake were identified that may inform treatment approaches.

Clustering of waveforms based on FPCA direction

open access: yes, 2010
Looking for curves similarity could be a complex issue characterized by subjective choices related to continuous transformations of observed discrete data (Chiodi, 1989). Waveforms correlation techniques have been introduced to charac- terize the degree of seismic event similarity (Menke, 1999) and in facilitating more accurate relative locations ...

FPCA: Field-Programmable Pixel Convolutional Array for Extreme-Edge Intelligence

open access: yesIEEE Sensors Journal
The rapid advancement of neural network applications necessitates hardware that not only accelerates computation but also adapts efficiently to dynamic processing requirements. While processing-in-pixel has emerged as a promising solution to overcome the bottlenecks of traditional architectures at the extreme-edge, existing implementations face ...
