Self‐Assembly Enabled Mie‐Scattering in Hematite Nanoplatelet Stacks

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 16, 26 August 2026.
The spectral evolution during the electrolyte‐induced self‐assembly of 120 × 20 nm hematite nanoplatelets into vertical stacks in aqueous solutions is investigated. Optical simulations and correlative electron microscopy/single particle spectroscopy confirm that a collective magnetic dipole mode develops in the assembling stacks.

Black Carbon Absorption Enhancement During Particle Aging Is Constrained by Size‐Dependent Morphological Transition Thresholds

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 15, 16 August 2026.
Abstract Quantifying the climate effects of black carbon (BC) requires resolving how atmospheric aging modifies the mixing state and light absorption of BC‐containing particles. Here, we optimize a tandem DMA‐SP2 system to obtain size‐resolved coating amount (MR) and morphology of BC‐containing particles.

Coal Mining as a Driver of Land Use and Land Cover Change and Degradation: A Case in Moatize City, Mozambique

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 13, Page 9126-9143, 15 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Coal remains a major global energy source despite ongoing environmental controversies, particularly, regarding climate change and landscape transformation. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and land cover (LULC) in the Moatize Coal Basin (MCB), Mozambique, between 1990 and 2024, with a specific focus on land ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Surfactant‐Regulated and Carboxylate‐Mediated Uniform Zinc Plating

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Dendrite‐free zinc metal anodes are achieved by kinetic control of aqueous Zn plating using millimolar sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in a mildly acidic electrolyte. Persistent coadsorption slows interfacial charge–transfer, maintains Zn2+ surface concentration, and shifts growth from diffusion to ...
