Spectral Asymmetry and Higuchi's Fractal Dimension Measures of Depression Electroencephalogram

open access: yesComput. Math. Methods Medicine, 2013
This study was aimed to compare two electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis methods, spectral asymmetry index (SASI) and Higuchi's fractal dimension (HFD), for detection of depression. Linear SASI method is based on evaluation of the balance of powers in two

The Realization of Multidirectional, Free‐Standing 3D Plasmonic Nanostructures via 3D Nanoprinting: A Case Study of Fractal Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...

Fractal dimension of chromatin: potential molecular diagnostic applications for cancer prognosis

open access: yesExpert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2013
Fractal characteristics of chromatin, revealed by light or electron microscopy, have been reported during the last 20 years. Fractal features can easily be estimated in digitalized microscopic images and are helpful for diagnosis and prognosis of ...

Overcoming the Stability Issue for Hydrophobic Hole Transporting Layers Utilized in Tin‐Lead Perovskite and Tandem Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐annealed process is developed for non‐PEDOT:PSS inverted tin‐lead perovskite solar cells to attain PCE 22.67% for the PTAA‐based device. When PTAA is applied in an all‐perovskite tandem solar cell, a record efficiency of 28.14% is obtained with great stability for the efficiency maintaining 96% of its original value for 500 h under one‐sun ...

3D‐Printed Multidimensional Bionic Mg‐MC/PLGA Composite for Tailored Repair of Segmental Long Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops 3D‐printed Mg‐MC/PLGA scaffolds with varying Mg concentrations (0–20%). The 5% Mg scaffold shows optimal cytocompatibility, osteogenic activity in vitro, and significantly enhances bone regeneration in rabbits, improving bone volume and mechanical strength.

Designing Physical Unclonable Functions From Optically Active Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Assigning unforgeable “fingerprints” to manufactured goods is a key strategy to fight global counterfeiting. Optical physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are chemically generated random patterns of optically active materials serving as unique authenticators.
