Fractal Dimension of Disordered Submonolayers: Determination from He Scattering Data

open access: yes, 1996
We propose a novel method to measure the fractal dimension of a submonolayer metal adatom system grown under conditions of limited diffusivity on a surface.

Illuminating Advances in Materials: Optical Physical Unclonable Functions for Security Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights Optical Physical Unclonable Functions (OPUFs) as secure, light‐driven authentication tools. It surveys material platforms including optical fibers, low‐dimensional materials, luminophores, plasmonic nanoparticles and rare earth OPUFs systems.

Real‐Time Probing of Morphological Evolution and Recrystallization During Solvent Annealing in Blade‐Coated All‐Polymer Organic Solar Cells Using In Situ X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In situ grazing‐incidence X‐ray scattering and in situ UV–vis spectroscopy are being used for the first time to reveal the morphological evolution of all‐polymer solar cell (APSCs) blends during solvent vapor annealing (SVA). SVA strongly influences the recrystallization and reordering behavior of APSCs blends, successfully establishing the ...

Microstructural Origin of Nonmonotonic Piezoresistivity in Polymer Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
When polymer nanocomposites are subjected to tensile loading, the electrical resistance‐strain relationship may be nonmonotonic, hampering the use of these materials in real‐world applications. This challenge is addressed through the collaborative use of physical experimentation and computer simulations, establishing the inter‐nanotube junction ...

Hausdorff dimension of wild fractals [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1992
We show that for every s ∈ [ n − 2 , n ] s \in [n - 2,n] there exists a homogeneously embedded wild Cantor set C s {C^s} in R n , n ≥ 3

Superelastic Fire‐Safe Aerogel with Hierarchical Structures via Dual Templates Aided by Microbubble Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here, a dual‐template strategy (ice and bubble template) is used to prepare fire‐safe aerogels with hierarchical structures. When the foam expansion ratio exceeds the jamming transition value in the foam system, the aerogels demonstrate superelasticity and extreme shape adaptability.

Convergent Calculation of the Asymptotic Dimension of Diffusion Limited Aggregates: Scaling and Renormalization of Small Clusters

open access: yes, 2000
Diffusion Limited Aggregation (DLA) is a model of fractal growth that had attained a paradigmatic status due to its simplicity and its underlying role for a variety of pattern forming processes.
