Effects of testosterone and high‐dose anabolic steroids on orthodontic‐induced bone remodeling and root resorption: An animal study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigates the impact of disruptions in testosterone levels on bone remodeling, root resorption, and periodontal ligament (PDL) during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) in a pubertal male rat model. Methods Testosterone deficiency was induced through orchiectomy, and the anabolic‐androgenic steroid (AAS, testosterone ...

FRACTAL GEOMETRY IN AGRICULTURAL CASH PRICE DYNAMICS [PDF]

open access: yes
Agricultural prices are determined by natural and socio-economic factors that are known to be self-similar at different time scales and to follow non-periodic cyclical patterns.

Plasmon–Exciton–Driven Modulation of the Electronic and Optical Properties of MoS2 via Cayley Tree Fractal Nanostructures

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
This work investigates the change in optical and electronic properties of monolayer MoS2 through the coupling of its excitons and a plasmonic fractal structure. The formation of the heterostructure shows significant enhancement on the edge of the fractal pattern relative to off, owing to the enhanced electric field at the edge of the branches.

Coal Mining as a Driver of Land Use and Land Cover Change and Degradation: A Case in Moatize City, Mozambique

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coal remains a major global energy source despite ongoing environmental controversies, particularly, regarding climate change and landscape transformation. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and land cover (LULC) in the Moatize Coal Basin (MCB), Mozambique, between 1990 and 2024, with a specific focus on land ...

Combining the Underwater Vision Profiler 6 with sediment traps to measure in situ velocity of marine particles

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Particles sinking from the surface to the deep ocean play a key role in the biological carbon pump, whose efficiency depends partly on sinking velocities. Over the last decade, in situ imaging has enabled critical advances in our understanding of particle dynamics in the ocean.

Fractal Geometry on Hyperbolic Manifolds

open access: yes, 2006
In this survey we give a report on some recent results obtained in the studies of hyperbolic manifolds by means of fractal geometry. Emphasis has been put on results derived in the quantitative and qualitative fractal analysis of long term geodesic dynamics on hyperbolic manifolds.

Fractals in Noncommutative Geometry

open access: yes, 2001
To any spectral triple (A,D,H) a dimension d is associated, in analogy with the Hausdorff dimension for metric spaces. Indeed d is the unique number, if any, such that |D|^-d has non trivial logarithmic Dixmier trace. Moreover, when d is finite non-zero, there always exists a singular trace which is finite nonzero on |D|^-d, giving rise to a ...
