Isoanemeity Predicts the Effect of Leaf Versus Stem Flexure on Plant Drag

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Flexible vegetation is deflected by fluid flow, reducing drag forces and thus inducing complex feedbacks which affect scalar transport, sediment mobility and biogeochemical cycling. However, we presently lack mathematical models for this disturbance, for all but the simplest plant forms.

Evolution and Conceptual Insights into the Geometric Phase of Light: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review presents a unified account of the geometric phase of light, linking its fundamental principles to diverse manifestations in polarization, spatial, and vector modes. By connecting theoretical frameworks with key experimental realizations, it reveals a coherent physical picture that deepens understanding and stimulates new directions in ...

Incorporation of an Extended Electron‐Deficient Central Block Into Small‐Molecule Acceptors Toward Enhanced‐Performance Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Two novel extended electron‐deficient central cores (Tz‐Qx, Dz‐Qx) with F/Cl‐substituted terminal groups synergistically optimize small molecule acceptors. Tz‐Qx‐4F outperforms Dz‐Qx‐based counterparts, achieving 19.50% PCE (29.3 mA cm−2 JSC) when blended with D18, thus providing valuable insights for designing high‐performance organic solar cell ...

Whole‐Epiphysis Trabecular Bone in Tamarin Limbs Suggests Effects of Leaping Distance Alongside Non‐Biomechanical Factors

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 190, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Beyond non‐biomechanical factors, the trabecular architecture of long bone epiphyses variably underlies functional adaptations to locomotor behavior. A recent study, characterizing tamarin trabecular bone using traditional metrics derived from Volumes of Interest (VOIs), identified a preliminary relationship with leaping distance ...

Rapid changes of the lava‐delta coastlines formed by the 2021 volcanic eruption on La Palma, Canary Islands

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
A new coastline formed during the 2021 eruption of La Palma quickly eroded, becoming crenellated and with pocket beaches, then retreated more gradually as resistant interiors of the lava were exposed. In contrast, a second thicker lava delta changed more gradually, highlighting the importance of lithology to coastal erosion.

Performance of PBF‐Printed Micro‐Channel Bipolar Plates as a Function of Flow‐Field Parameters and Plane Area

open access: yesFuel Cells, Volume 26, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT SUS 316L bipolar plates (BPPs) with rectangular micro‐channels for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) were fabricated using powder bed fusion (PBF) technology, and the effects of flow‐field structure parameters (channel width, rib width, and channel depth) on fuel cell performance were analyzed.
