Poisson-to-Wigner crossover transition in the nearest-neighbor spacing statistics of random points on fractals

open access: yes, 2005
We show that the nearest-neighbor spacing distribution for a model that consists of random points uniformly distributed on a self-similar fractal is the Brody distribution of random matrix theory.

Fractal coding based on image local fractal dimension [PDF]

open access: yesClinics, 2005
Fractal codification of images is based on self-similar and self-affine sets. The codification process consists of construction of an operator which will represent the image to be encoded. If a complicated picture can be represented by an operator then it will be transmitted or stored very efficiently.

Fractal dimension images from SAR images [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014
In this paper we present the description of the image-processing issues underlying the estimation of the fractal dimension of natural surfaces from their corresponding synthetic aperture radar images. The choice of the spectral-estimation method is a key issue, due to the special nature of the problem at hand.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.
