Functional Disorder at the Neural Interface: How Disordered Nanostructures Promote Proper Growth and Differentiation in In Vitro Neural Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work provides a practical guide for neuroengineers to design advanced neural interfaces, embracing and tailoring the concept of functional disorder. By bridging 2D and 3D in vitro models, this work highlights how non‐periodic, spatially heterogeneous, multiscale nanotopography can enable more physiologically relevant platforms for studying neural ...

Scale invariance in percolation theory and fractals

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics Letters, 1996
The properties of the similarity transformation in percolation theory in the complex plane of the percolation probability are studied. It is shown that the percolation problem on a two-dimensional square lattice reduces to the Mandelbrot transformation, leading to a fractal behavior of the percolation probability in the complex plane.

Machine Learning‐Driven Prediction of Microplastic Aging Processes and Environmental Risk Assessment Across Multi‐Media Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This perspective proposes a cohesive machine learning strategy to decode microplastic aging. It advocates for Federated Learning to dismantle global data silos and introduces the TRACE framework (TRansport, Aging, Corona, Ecotoxicity). By integrating physics‐informed modeling with causal discovery, this approach bridges the laboratory‐field gap to ...

Experimental Investigation and Dynamic Fractal and Multi-fractal Analysis of the Density Current Patterns [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی منابع آب, 2020
Density current is caused by a slight density difference with the environmental fluid. These currents are of two-phase current type. These currents are non-linear in nature, which are complex and sensitive to initial conditions.

Femtosecond‐Laser‐Induced Physical Unclonable Random Maze Structure for Storage‐Free Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Femtosecond‐laser‐induced gold random maze structures serve as multimodal physical unclonable functions for storage‐free encryption. Their stochastic optical, electrical, and Raman responses are generated by plasmon‐assisted Marangoni formation and converted into AES‐compatible keys without permanent secret‐key storage, offering a portable route toward

Strain‐Adaptive Dielectric Metamaterials via Bioinspired “Ligament‐Bone” Architecture for Ultrahigh‐Energy Capacitive Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioinspired strain‐adaptive ligament‐bone architecture achieves record‐high energy density of 26.1 J cm−3 and 90% efficiency at 600 MV m−1, coupled with a Young's modulus of 2.13 GPa. ABSTRACT Polymer dielectrics for capacitive energy storage face fundamental trade‐offs between breakdown strength, energy density, efficiency, and mechanical robustness.

A General and Efficient Framework for the Rapid Design of Miniaturized, Wideband, and High‐Bit RIS

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A general and efficient framework is proposed for the rapid design of high‐performance reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). This framework integrates advanced antenna design techniques and incorporates various load types, quantities, and values to achieve the design of high‐performance RISs.

Scaling distances on finitely ramified fractals [PDF]

open access: yesKyoto Journal of Mathematics, 2017
In previous papers by A. Kameyama and by J. Kigami distances on fractals have been discussed having two different but similar properties. One property is that the maps defining the fractal are Lipschitz of prescribed constants less than 1, the other is that the diameters of the copies of the fractal are asymptotic to prescribed scaling factors. In this

PolySimp: A Tool for Polygon Simplification Based on the Underlying Scaling Hierarchy

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Map generalization is a process of reducing the contents of a map or data to properly show a geographic feature(s) at a smaller extent. Over the past few years, the fractal way of thinking has emerged as a new paradigm for map generalization.
