The damage and failure mechanism of prestatically loaded rock during medium‐strain rate cyclic impact loading

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on experimental results and theoretical analysis, an established rock damage accumulation model that comprehensively considers the preapplied static load, impact peak value, impact frequency, and impact times. Abstract To study the rock damage mechanism under high static loading and superimposed medium strain rate cyclic impact loading, a series ...

Abduction and Deduction in Dynamical Cognitive Science

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract This paper reviews the recent history of a subset of research in dynamical cognitive science, in particular that subset that allies itself with the sciences of complexity and casts cognitive systems as interaction dominant, noncomputational, and nonmodular. I look at this history in the light of C.S.

Towards Electronic Materials Fractal Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Starting in the last two decades of 20th Century, fractal geometry and underlying analysis became a part of material sciences. From ore distribution in Earth layers to nanotechnology, from biomedical to energy applications, fractal descriptors of physicochemical properties of matter are inevitable part of scientific research and presentations.

Dynamic geo‐hydrogeological monitoring‐driven situational awareness for real‐time floor water inrush risk prediction in deep mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

Environmental heterogeneity and spatial variation mediates plant diversity and ecosystem stability in mountain ecosystems of the Mediterranean Andes

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Globally, mountains are highly diverse ecosystems that serve as natural laboratories for testing ecological theories, while providing vital ecosystem services. Their biodiversity arises from the interaction between elevational gradients and topographic complexity, which generate strong variation in environmental conditions across short spatial scales ...

Fractal Characteristics of the Spatial Distribution of Mine Earthquake Sources in the Vicinity of a Fault: A Case Study in the Ashele Copper Mine

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Potential faults are common sensitive geological bodies that affect the safe mining of underground mines, often leading to major accidents such as rock instability and rockburst during mining.

Extended Minimal Atomicity through Nondifferentiability: A Mathematical-Physical Approach

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2019
The mathematical concept of minimal atomicity is extended to fractal minimal atomicity, based on the nondifferentiability of the motion curves of physical system entities on a fractal manifold.

Stretch Tunable Active Frequency Selective Fabric for Dynamically Switchable Bandstop and Transparency

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This stretchable active frequency selective fabric achieves reversible switching between bandstop and transparent states through strain‐induced reconfiguration of its conductive network. Its zero‐power and mechanically tunable characteristics offer potential for wearable electromagnetic functional materials.

Fractal Prediction Model for Normal Contact Damping of Joint Surfaces considering Friction Factors and Its Simulation

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
To research the dynamic characteristics of the joint surfaces from the microperspective, the fractal prediction model of the normal contact damping of joint surfaces is established based on the “solid-gap-solid” contact model which was proposed by the ...

Altered neurostructural development in magnetic resonance imaging‐negative pediatric epilepsy: A large‐scale multicenter study of 1919 children

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Addressing the poorly understood impact of pediatric epilepsy on neurodevelopment, this large‐scale study delineates age‐ and sex‐stratified neurostructural trajectories in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐negative pediatric epilepsy to identify periods of maximal developmental divergence from healthy controls.
