This paper focuses on fractional-order modeling and the design of a robust speed controller for a nonlinear system. An induction motor (IM), widely used in Electrical Vehicles (EVs), is preferred in this study as a well-known nonlinear system.

Theoretical analysis and experimental validation of a simplified fractional order controller for a magnetic levitation system [PDF]
Fractional order (FO) controllers are among the emerging solutions for increasing closed-loop performance and robustness. However, they have been applied mostly to stable processes.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

This paper is concerned with the problem of tracking control for a class of variable-order fractional uncertain system. In order to realize the global robustness of systems, two types of controllers are designed by the global sliding-mode control method.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Design and analysis of a multivariable fractional order controller for a non-minimum phase system [PDF]
Two control strategies for multivariable processes are proposed that are based on a decentralised and a steady state decoupling approach. The designed controllers are fractional order PIs.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
