On the potential of using fractional-order systems to model the respiratory impedance [PDF]
This contribution provides an analysis of the human respiratory system in frequency domain by means of estimating the respiratory impedance. Further on, analysis of several models for human respiratory impedance is done, leading to the conclusion that a ...

Semifluxons in Superconductivity and Cold Atomic Gases
Josephson junctions and junction arrays are well studied devices in superconductivity. With external magnetic fields one can modulate the phase in a long junction and create traveling, solitonic waves of magnetic flux, called fluxons.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

In this paper, a fractional-order chaotic circuit based on a novel fractional-order generalized memristor is proposed. It is proved that the circuit based on the diode bridge cascaded with fractional-order inductor has volt-ampere characteristics of ...

Fracmemristor: Fractional-Order Memristor
This paper mainly discusses an interesting conceptual framework: the fractional-order memristor (fracmemristor). It is a challenging theoretical problem to determine what the fracmemristor interpolating characteristics between the memristor and the ...

Kinetic Inductance Detectors for the OLIMPO experiment: design and pre-flight characterization [PDF]
We designed, fabricated, and characterized four arrays of horn--coupled, lumped element kinetic inductance detectors (LEKIDs), optimized to work in the spectral bands of the balloon-borne OLIMPO experiment.

Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

A large number of practical systems show pronounced fractional-order features. In comparison with integer-order calculus, fractional-order calculus has been demonstrated to possess enhanced precision in the description of the dynamic behavior of complex ...

Synthetic Direct Impact Light Curves of the Ultracompact AM CVn Binary Systems V407 Vul and HM Cnc [PDF]
The interacting binary white dwarf (AM CVn) systems HM Cnc and V407 have orbital periods of 5.4 min and 9.5 min, respectively. The two systems are characterized by an "on/off" behaviour in the X-ray light curve, and optical light curves that are nearly ...

dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...
