The optimization of the multi-atmospheric Ar-Xe laser [PDF]
The quasi-steady-state conditions of the multi-atmospheric e-beam sustained Ar-Xe laser are investigated. It is observed that the duration of the stationary period depends on the e-beam current, discharge power deposition, and gas pressure.

Skin Cell Proliferation Stimulated by Microneedles [PDF]
A classical wound may be defined as a disruption of tissue integrity. Wounds, caused by trauma from accidents or surgery, that close via secondary intention rely on the biological phases of healing, i.e., hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and ...

Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum Treatment with Fractional CO2 Laser
Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PE) is a rare genetic disease characterized by calcification and fragmentation of elastic fibers of the skin, retina, and cardiovascular system. We report a case of PE in which fractional carbon dioxide laser treatment was successfully used to achieve improvement of the cervical skin with 2-year follow-up, in a patient with ...

Influence of magnification on extraction efficiency in laser resonators with non-overlapping beams [PDF]
The magnification and the Fresnel number determine the mode profile and losses in a bare unstable resonator. Upon inclusion of gain, both the beam pattern and the reflectivity are changed, more than in a stable cavity, because the counter-propagation ...

Validation of the Harvard Lyman-α in situ water vapor instrument: Implications for the mechanisms that control stratospheric water vapor [PDF]
Building on previously published details of the laboratory calibrations of the Harvard Lyman-α photofragment fluorescence hygrometer (HWV) on the NASA ER-2 and WB-57 aircraft, we describe here the validation process for HWV, which includes laboratory ...

Hand Rejuvenation by Ablative Fraction CO2 Laser
Background: Ablative fractional CO2 laser (AFCL) has been reported to be safe and effective to use for preventing hand photoaging in a recent pilot study. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of AFCL in improvement of hand photoaging in 25 patients. Patients and Methods: A prospective, before- after, single blind study was conducted in

All-optical generation and photoassociative probing of sodium Bose-Einstein condensates
We demonsatrate an all optical technique to evaporatively produce sodium Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). We use a crossed-dipole trap formed from light near 1060 nm, and a simple ramp of the intensity to force evaporation.
