Fourier spectral methods for fractional-in-space reaction-diffusion equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Fractional differential equations are becoming increasingly used as a powerful modelling approach for understanding the many aspects of nonlocality and spatial heterogeneity.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Fractional Integration and Cointegration in US Financial Time Series Data [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines several US monthly financial time series data using fractional integration and cointegration techniques. The univariate analysis based on fractional integration aims to determine whether the series are I(1) (in which case markets ...

A Wavelet Collocation Method for some Fractional Models

open access: yesRatio Mathematica, 2022
This article presents an effective numerical approach based on the operational matrix of fractional order integration of Haar wavelets for dealing with the fractional models of the mixing and the Newton law of cooling problems.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Seasonal Long Memory in Retail Sales in the G7 Countries

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This article examines the seasonal patterns of retail sales in the G7 nations, a key component of private consumption. Using seasonal fractional integration, we assess whether shocks present a lasting or temporary effect on retail sales trends ...

On the integral of fractional Poisson processes [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2013
In this paper we consider the Riemann--Liouville fractional integral $\mathcal{N}^{α,ν}(t)= \frac{1}{Γ(α)} \int_0^t (t-s)^{α-1}N^ν(s) \, \mathrm ds $, where $N^ν(t)$, $t \ge 0$, is a fractional Poisson process of order $ν\in (0,1]$, and $α> 0$. We give the explicit bivariate distribution $\Pr \{N^ν(s)=k, N^ν(t)=r \}$, for $t \ge s$, $r \ge k$, the ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Exogenous shocks and time-varying price persistence in the EU27

open access: yesJournal of Applied Economics
This paper analyses monthly price persistence in the EU27 countries over the period 2010–2022 using a fractional integration framework, where the measure of persistence is the fractional differencing parameter d.
