Energy storage and loss in fractional‐order circuit elements

open access: yesIET Circuits, Devices & Systems, 2015
The efficiency of a general fractional‐order circuit element as an energy storage device is analysed. Simple expressions are derived for the proportions of energy that may be transferred into and then recovered from a fractional‐order element by either constant‐current or constant‐voltage charging and discharging.

Enhanced Tantalum Superconducting Resonator Performance via All‐Surface Organic Monolayer Passivation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The internal quality factor of tantalum superconducting resonators is significantly increased by ∼140% in the low photon regime by passivating their surfaces with a high‐quality alkene self‐assembled monolayer. Our methodology promises to enhance the performance of superconducting quantum circuits.

A Nonvolatile Fractional Order Memristor Model and Its Complex Dynamics

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
It is found that the fractional order memristor model can better simulate the characteristics of memristors and that chaotic circuits based on fractional order memristors also exhibit abundant dynamic behavior.

Monolithic Oxidation Enables Ultrathin Vertically Graded Tantalum Oxide for Low‐Voltage, Low‐Variability Memristive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Monolithic UV‐ozone oxidation of Ta forms an ultrathin Ta2O5/TaOx bilayer enabling resistive switching with a vertical defect gradient. A stoichiometric surface layer over an oxygen‐deficient sublayer promotes localized filament nucleation near the top interface, enabling low‐voltage operation, and reduced cycle‐to‐cycle variability.

Effects of Parasitic Fractional Elements to the Dynamics of Memristor

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2019
In this research, we study the effects of the parasitic fractional elements to the dynamic of the memristor where both flux- and charge-controlled memristors have been considered. For doing so, the fractional differential equation-based approach has been

Extraordinary n‐type Tellurium‐Free Thermoelectric Performance of Y‐Doped BiSe via Synergistic Effect of Vacancies and Band Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Yttrium doping in Sb‐alloyed BiSe synergistically induces Bi vacancies and flattens conduction bands, simultaneously slashing lattice thermal conductivity by 50% and boosting the power factor. The optimized n‐type Bi0.64Sb0.3Y0.06Se delivers a peak zT of 0.91 at 393 K (average zT 0.76, 300–523 K) and an 8‐pair module with 4.6% conversion efficiency ...

Halide Perovskite Integrated Photovoltaic Cathodes Incorporating Pt on ZIF‐8‐Derived Carbon for Solar Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A low‐Pt catalyst supported on zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF‐8)‐derived porous carbon and graphite is integrated with a halide perovskite photovoltaic, yielding cathodes that achieve a high photocurrent density (∼20 mA cm−2) under simulated sunlight and exhibit remarkable stability in acidic media over several days, thereby demonstrating a ...
