Load-frequency control in an islanded microgrid PV/WT/FC/ESS using an optimal self-tuning fractional-order fuzzy controller

open access: yesEnvironmental science and pollution research international, 2021
Due to the increased complexity and nonlinear nature of microgrid systems such as photovoltaic, wind-turbine fuel cell, and energy storage systems (PV/WT/FC/ESSs), load-frequency control has been a challenge.

Adaptive Backstepping Control for Fractional-Order Nonlinear Systems with External Disturbance and Uncertain Parameters Using Smooth Control

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we consider controlling a class of single-input-single-output (SISO) commensurate fractional-order nonlinear systems with parametric uncertainty and external disturbance.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Robust Stabilization of Fractional-Order Systems with Interval Uncertainties via Fractional-Order Controllers

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2010
We propose a fractional-order controller to stabilize unstable fractional-order open-loop systems with interval uncertainty whereas one does not need to change the poles of the closed-loop system in the proposed method.

Improving the Hardware Complexity by Exploiting the Reduced Dynamics-Based Fractional Order Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Fractional calculus is finding increased usage in the modeling and control of nonlinear systems with the enhanced robustness. However, from the implementation perspectives, the simultaneous modeling of the systems and the design of controllers with ...

A Tuning Method via Borges Derivative of a Neural Network-Based Discrete-Time Fractional-Order PID Controller with Hausdorff Difference and Hausdorff Sum

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2021
In this paper, the fractal derivative is introduced into a neural network-based discrete-time fractional-order PID controller in two areas, namely, in the controller’s structure and in the parameter optimization algorithm.

Robust fractional order PID controller synthesis for the first order plus integral system

open access: yesMeasurement and control (London. 1968), 2022
The fractional order PID (FOPID) controller has been found to have the potential to provide more flexibility in the design options than the integer order PID (IOPID) controller.

Fractional-Order Adaptive Backstepping Control of a Noncommensurate Fractional-Order Ferroresonance System [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2018
In this paper, fractional calculus is applied to establish a novel fractional-order ferroresonance model with fractional-order magnetizing inductance and capacitance. Some basic dynamic behaviors of this fractional-order ferroresonance system are investigated.

Estimation, Analysis and Smoothing of Self-Similar Network Induced Delays in Feedback Control of Nuclear Reactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper analyzes a nuclear reactor power signal that suffers from network induced random delays in the shared data network while being fed-back to the Reactor Regulating System (RRS).

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
