Geology and fracture system at Stripa. Technical information report No. 21 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The Stripa test site has been excavated in granitic rock between 338 m and 360 m below the ground surface, and is located under the north limb of an ENE-plunging synclinal structure. The granitic rocks, in the areas mapped, are of Archean age and are dominated by a reddish, medium-grained, massive monzogranite that shows varying degrees of deformation.

A fluid flow perspective on the diagenesis of Te Aute limestones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pliocene cool-water, bioclastic Te Aute limestones in East Coast Basin, New Zealand, accumulated either in shelfal shoal areas or about structurally shallow growth fold structures in the tectonically active accretionary forearc prism.

Structure and fracture characterization of the Jizan group: Implications for subsurface CO2 basalt mineralization

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The coastal region of southwest Saudi Arabia contains a thick sequence of Late Oligocene basalts in the Jizan Group, which accumulated along the continental rift that preceded the opening of the Red Sea. These basalts are targeted for the disposal of CO2

Seismic Response to Injection Well Stimulation in a High-Temperature, High-Permeability Reservoir [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fluid injection into the Earth's crust can induce seismic events that cause damage to local infrastructure but also offer valuable insight into seismogenesis.

Geomechanical Characteristics and Stimulation of Dibei Deep Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in the Kuqa Depression of Tarim Basin

open access: yesGeofluids, 2023
Facing the problem of increased production of deep tight gas reservoirs, this study takes the Dibei gas reservoir in Tarim Basin as an example, carries out geomechanical research, and reveals the rock mechanical properties, in situ stress, and fracture ...

Estimation of the Fracturing Parameters and Reservoir Permeability Using Diagnostic Fracturing Injection Test

open access: yesIraqi Geological Journal, 2023
The term "tight reservoir" is commonly used to refer to reservoirs with low permeability. Tight oil reservoirs have caused worry owing to its considerable influence upon oil output throughout the petroleum sector.

Exploration methods for granitic natural stones - Geological and topographical aspects from case studies in Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2014
Regional and local geological constraints for location of natural stone deposits in glaciated terrains of southern and central Finland have been studied and applied to practical exploration for natural stone.

Tectonic interpretation of the connectivity of a multiscale fracture system in limestone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper studies the statistics and tectonism of a multiscale natural fracture system in limestone. The fracture network exhibits a self‐similar characteristic with a correlation between its power law length exponent a and fractal dimension D, i.e., a ≈

Productivity Prediction of Fractured-Vuggy Reservoirs under Time-Varied Flow Rates and Bottom Hole Flow Pressures

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
Fracture-vuggy oil reservoirs contain micrometer-sized dissolved secondary pores, fractures, and meter-sized karst caves. Generally, the researches on the flow mechanism of fractured-vuggy reservoirs are based on the assumption of karst cave-fracture ...
