Effect of Fe-Bearing Phases on the Mechanical Properties and Fracture Mechanism of Al–2wt.%Cu–1.5wt.%Mn (Mg,Zn) Non-Heat Treatable Sheet Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The effects of Fe-bearing phases on the structure, mechanical properties, and fracture mechanism of a non-heat-treatable model sheet alloy (wt.%: Al–2%Cu–1.5%Mn(-Mg,Zn)), designed for Al20Cu2Mn3 dispersoids, was investigated.

Fracture Kinetics and Mechanisms of Ultrafine-Grained Materials during Fatigue Tests in the Low-Cycle Fatigue Region

open access: yesMetals, 2023
In this paper, the fracture kinetics and mechanisms in the low-cycle fatigue region were analyzed for different ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials with body-centered cubic (bcc), hexagonal close-packed (hcp) and face-centered cubic (fcc) lattices.

Fracture mechanics principles

open access: yesDental Materials, 1995
The principles of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) were developed in the 1950s by George Irwin (1957). This work was based on previous investigations of Griffith (1920) and Orowan (1944). Irwin (1957) demonstrated that a crack shape in a particular location with respect to the loading geometry had a stress intensity associated with it.

An Analytical Model for Rock Cutting with a Chisel Pick of the Cutter Suction Dredger

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Cutter suction dredgers are important pieces of rock excavation equipment in port and waterway construction. It is valuable but difficult to properly estimate the cutting force on the chisel pick of the cutter suction dredger.

Research on mechanism and practice of expansion‐induced fracturing and pressure relief in deep coal mines

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
A nonexplosive expansion method is proposed to apply in the field of rock burst prevention and control in coal mine. The principle of the expansive agent reaction was analysed and specimens with one hole and two holes were tested with and without axial ...

Fatigue analysis of brazing structures with fin-plate-side bar in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) heat exchangers under cryogenic conditions

open access: yesScience and Technology for Energy Transition, 2023
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the fatigue life of heat exchangers used for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and to ensure its structural safety, the alternating stress of brazing structures under cryogenic conditions was analyzed with a Finite ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
