Stability of internal fixation systems based on different subtypes of Schatzker II fracture of the tibial plateau: A finite element analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Background: Schaztker II fracture is the most common type of the tibial plateau fractures (TPF). There has been a large number of cadaveric biomechanical studies and finite element simulation studies to explore the most stable fixation methods for this ...

Influence of the bulk and surface morphology on adhesion of polystyrene-inter-poly-cross-2-ethylhexyl-methacrylate films and particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The adhesion behavior of semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) of linear polystyrene (PS) in crosslinked poly-2-ethylhexylmethacrylate (EHMA) was studied by variation of the bulk and surface morphology, i.e., domain size, continuity, and ...

Characteristics Analysis of Three-Component Wave Field Based on Borehole Microseismic Data of Shear Wave Splitting

open access: yesCejing jishu, 2023
The wave field data which is monitored the fracturing crack by micro seismic in the well is complex, especially when the shear wave (S-wave) encounters the fracture. The shear wave will split into the fast or slow wave. The polarization directions of the

Fractal model and Lattice Boltzmann Method for Characterization of Non-Darcy Flow in Rough Fractures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The irregular morphology of single rock fracture significantly influences subsurface fluid flow and gives rise to a complex and unsteady flow state that typically cannot be appropriately described using simple laws.

Research on Rock Fracture Surface Morphology Characterization under Brazilian Test

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
In order to test the differences in the morphology characterization of rock fracture surfaces under different loading directions and rates, the following three steps are operated.

Effect of the morphology of the martensite-austenite phase on fracture of the weld heat affected zone in vanadium and niobium microalloyed steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In multipass welding, the intercritically reheated coarse grained heat affected zone demonstrates the worst toughness in welded joint, since it contains a high-carbon martensite with some retained austenite, known as M-A phase, which is brittle and ...

Morphological Analysis of Fractures of the Proximal Humerus by the Fracture Mapping Technique

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2023
ObjectiveFractures of different parts of the proximal humerus may lead to different postoperative functional deficits, but there are few studies on the morphology and related functions of the proximal humerus. The purpose of this study was to analyze the fracture pattern of the proximal humerus by the three‐dimensional (3‐D) fracture mapping technique ...

Laser-Induced Spall Of Aluminum And Aluminum Alloys At High Strain Rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We conducted laser-induced spall experiments aimed at studying how a material's microstructure affects the tensile fracture characteristics at high strain rates (> 10(6) s(-1)).

Morphology of the femur in proximal femoral fractures [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1989
We studied the morphology of the contralateral femur in 10 patients with subcapital fractures, 10 with trochanteric fractures and 10 with unilateral osteoarthritis. We found that the patients with trochanteric fractures had a significantly shorter femoral neck (4.5 +/- 0.5 cm) than patients with subcapital fractures or osteoarthritis (5.4 +/- 0.4 cm).
