Modeling of Hydraulic Fracture Network Propagation in a Naturally Fractured Formation
SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference, 2011Abstract Hydraulic fracturing in shale gas reservoirs has often resulted in complex fracture network growth, as evidenced by microseismic monitoring. The nature and degree of fracture complexity must be clearly understood to optimize stimulation design and completion strategy.

A Novel Treatment for Propagated Crown Fractures
Journal of Endodontics, 2015A major complication after endodontic treatment is persistent pain on biting or chewing. Although unsuccessful endodontic treatment can account for such pain, pain to chewing and biting can also be a result of an unsupported or propagated crown fracture.

Dynamic model of onset and propagation of fracture
Physical Review Letters, 1993A two-dimensional model of steady-state crack propagation, in which the stress acting on the fracture surface includes a dissipative term, exhibits a dissipation-dependent effective threshold for fracture. The crack creeps very slowly at external stresses just above the Griffith threshold, and makes an abrupt transition to propagation at roughly the ...

The propagation law of cleavage fracture
International Journal of Fracture Mechanics, 1970The equations of motion of cleavage fracture are solved and discussed for constant force, constant moment, and constant deflection. Also crack propagation in a plate is discussed. The differential equations are derived from the law of angular momentum conservation of the split parts.

Propagation of natural hydraulic fractures
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1997Abstract This paper is concerned with modeling the propagation of natural hydraulic fractures (NHF). Growth of a NHF is limited by the condition that change of the crack volume during propagation is equal to the volume of the fluid flowing from the rock into the crack. In this paper, we show that formulation of this problem can be reduced to a single

Dynamics of Fracture Propagation
1974In discussing the fracture of solids under a single application of the load, generally one may differentiate three types of material response. The first is the so-called crystalline shatter of a defect-free crystal with an ideally uniform geometry and under ideally uniform external loads, or fragmentation of defect-free high strength brittle solids. In

Propagation of a Vertical Hydraulic Fracture
Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1972Abstract This paper treats the propagation of hydraulic fractures of limited vertical extent and elliptic cross-section with the effect of fluid loss included. Numerical and asymptotic approximate solutions in dimensionless form give the fracture length and width at any value of time or any set of physical ...

Effect of a natural fracture on hydraulic fracture propagation
2004The effect of an existing fracture in a naturally fractured formation on the extension of a hydraulically induced natural fracture has been studied. Fracture interaction criterion was presented and a numerical model was developed to predict the dynamic fracture dimensions based on PKN³¹ fracture mechanics.
