The effect of ceria co-doping on chemical stability and fracture toughness of Y-TZP [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The fracture toughness and ageing resistance of yttria, ceria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y, Ce-TZP) were evaluated as a function of grain size and ceria content.

DETERMINATION OF THE FRACTURE ENERGY AND THE FRACTURE RESISTANCE OF INTERFACES

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1985
The basic concept and the fracture mechanics methods for determination of the fracture energy and the fracture resistance of interfaces between semi-brittle materials are reviewed. The interfacial fracture energy is derived from the global energy balance concept for crack propagations in an interface, whereas the fracture resistance parameter is based ...

Evaluating a Pragmatic Strength Alternative for Frailty Measurement and Assessing Its Predictive Capacity Against Established Frailty Instruments in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Frailty occurs prematurely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with poor health outcomes. We compared the performance of four frailty instruments, including a pragmatic alternative measure using chair sit‐to‐stand (STS), and evaluated their abilities to predict poor health outcomes.

Fracture Toughness of Silicate Glasses: Insights from Molecular Dynamics Simulations

open access: yes, 2015
Understanding, predicting and eventually improving the resistance to fracture of silicate materials is of primary importance to design new glasses that would be tougher, while retaining their transparency. However, the atomic mechanism of the fracture in

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.
