Plane strain tension fracture at high strain rate [PDF]
Under plane stress conditions, most micromechanical and phenomenological models predict a minimum in ductility for plane strain tension stress state.

Criteria of Ductile Fracture Strain
Two criteria of ductile fracture strain are suggested. From the theory of plasticity for porous materials, the following criterion of fracture for a triaxial state of stress is obtained: [numerical formula] where ee_qf is the equivalent fracture strain, σm the mean stress, σe_q the equivalent stress, a0 and b0 are constants.

For analysis of engineering structural materials to withstand harsh environmental conditions, accurate knowledge of properties such as flow stress and failure over conditions of high strain rate and temperature plays an essential role. Such properties of

A New Model for Void Coalescence by Internal Necking [PDF]
A micromechanical model for predicting the strain increment required to bring a damaged material element from the onset of void coalescence up to final fracture is developed based on simple kinematics arguments.

Machine Learning for Predicting Fracture Strain in Sheet Metal Forming
Machine learning models are built to predict the strain values for which edge cracking occurs in hole expansion tests. The samples from this test play the role of sheet metal components to be manufactured, in which edge cracking often occurs associated ...

A study was undertaken on the compressive high strain rate properties and deformation behaviour of Direct Metal Laser-Sintered (DMLS) Ti6Al4V (ELI) parts in two separate forms: as-built (AB) and stress relieved (SR).

Fracture healing monitored with strain gauges [PDF]
We measured healing in 7 cases of surgical neck fracture of the humerus by applying a strain gauge measuring bar between the external fixation pins. Repeated measurements provided a healing curve for the individual cases. The gradual decrease in deflection of the fracture zone reached a plateau of about 50 percent after 2 to 4 weeks in 6 cases. Evaluation of impact ductile fracture behaviour of low carbon austenitic stainless steel SUS304L using damage mechanics model [PDF]
To clarify the applicability of the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model for impact ductile fracture behaviour, SHB test was reproduced by finite element analysis (FEA).
