Fracture of oxide films on strained aluminium
Philosophical Magazine, 1962Abstract The mode of fracture of anodic film on aluminium has been examined. It is concluded that the films are reasonably elastic and that when they fail there is ‘slip’ at the film metal interface. There is no evidence of crack propagation from film to metal. The etching behaviour of strained aluminium can be explained using the present results.

Plane strain fracture toughness
1982The test procedure for plane strain fracture toughness testing is standardized [1, 2] by the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM. At first glance, it seems strange that a standard test is necessary. The versatility of the K concept implies that any cracked specimen for which K can be calculated is suitable.

Nonlocal fracture criterion: Finite strains
Doklady Physics, 2002Theory of multiple overlap of severe strains [1] allows us to analyze crack growth for finite strains of a body made of viscous elastic material on the basis of subsequently merging micropores and secondary cracks with the main crack. To do this, a criterion for the breakage of a wall between the main crack and a secondary crack or a micropore merging ...

The Effect of Pre-strain and Strain Path Changes on Ductile Fracture
2013Industrial metal forming operations generally require several deformation steps in order to create the final product. The mechanical behavior of materials undergoing strain path changes can be very different from those deformed in a given direction to fracture.

Fracture of Concrete at High Strain-Rate
1991This paper is a review of high strain-rate effects on concrete strength, fracture and fracture mechanics parameters. Strain-rate effects on unsaturated concrete, where considerable strength and crack density increases are evident, begins to occur at approximately 5/sec in tension and approximately 100/sec in compression.
