Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Graphene-coated tungsten nanowires deliver unprecedented modulus and strength

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2019
Tungsten (W) nanowires have a wide range of chemical, electronic, and mechanical applications. However, the modulus and strength of traditional W nanowires are quite low, and how to improve their mechanical performance remains a challenge.

Study on Elastic-plastic fracture mechanics assessment method of a pipe having multiple circumferential surface cracks for the Rules on Fitness-for-Service of JSME

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
This paper describes elastic-plastic fracture mechanics assessment methods of a pipe having multiple circumferential cracks. Ductile fracture strength of a multiple cracked pipe was evaluated using J-integral based on a reference stress method.

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of the Recurrence of Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a disease with a potential for recurrence, and patients receive immunotherapy to prevent it. However, there is no consensus on the duration of immunotherapy. This study aimed to determine the recurrence rate and identify the risk factors for AE to provide guidance on the duration of immunotherapy ...

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Research on Fracture Toughness of Flattened Brazilian Disc Specimen after High Temperature

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2016
Fracture toughness is an important parameter to study fracture characteristic of rock under external loads. Based on splitting tensile test on flattened Brazilian disc specimen of rock after high temperature, load–displacement curves of rock sample in ...

Synthesis and Studying SomeMechanical Properties of Nanocomposite [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2013
This study aims to synthesis a nanocomposite from Al2O3 – Cr2O3 and studying some of its mechanical properties like microhardness and fracture strength. X-Ray diffraction patterns shows a good crystallinity of the composite with very sharp and neat peaks.

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift

Strength of Fractured Rocks

open access: yes, 2015
In this report we present a study on the strength of rocks which are partially fractured from before. We have considered a two dimensional case of a rock in the form of a lattice structure. The fiber bundle model is used for modelling the $2-D$ rock. Each lattice site is considered to be a fiber which has a breaking threshold.
