Review of the fracture toughness approach
Dental adhesives are usually tested in shear or tension even though neither of these approaches measures the local stress triggering failure. Because the stress level varies extensively over the bonded surface, it seems as a fracture mechanics approach would be more appropriate.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

STUDY ON THE DETERMINATION METHOD OF CONSTRAINT DEPENDENT FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF STRUCTURE
The fracture toughness of material are affected by the constraint at crack tip. In order to assess the structural integrity of cracked structure accurately,it needs to obtain the constraint dependent fracture toughness. In this paper, based on the unified

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Electrified Damage in Motion Systems
The electrified damage in motion systems is a fundamental framework presenting the degradation pathway arising from the coupling of electrical energy transport with mechanical contact and interfacial chemistry. The framework positions electrified damage as a distinct degradation regime with unique characteristic surface morphologies and failures of ...

Experimental Study of Size Dependence of Fracture Toughness of PMMA
:In order to study the size dependence of the fracture toughness, pure mode I and pure model Ⅱ fracture tests for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) were performed under quasi static loading by using central cracked circular disk specimen.

Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...
