Fluid Flow in Fractured Porous Media [PDF]
The fluid flow in fracture porous media plays a significant role in the assessment of deep underground reservoirs, such as through CO2 sequestration, enhanced oil recovery, and geothermal energy development. Many methods have been employed—from laboratory experimentation to theoretical analysis and numerical simulations—and allowed for many useful ...

Robust Discretization of Flow in Fractured Porous Media [PDF]
Flow in fractured porous media represents a challenge for discretization methods due to the disparate scales and complex geometry. Herein we propose a new discretization, based on the mixed finite element method and mortar methods.

Statistical characteristics of flow as indicators of channeling in heterogeneous porous and fractured media [PDF]
International audienceWe introduce two new channeling indicators Dic and Dcc based on the Lagrangian distribution of flow rates. On the basis of the participation ratio, these indicators characterize the extremes of both the flow-tube width distribution ...

Fractal model and Lattice Boltzmann Method for Characterization of Non-Darcy Flow in Rough Fractures. [PDF]
The irregular morphology of single rock fracture significantly influences subsurface fluid flow and gives rise to a complex and unsteady flow state that typically cannot be appropriately described using simple laws.

Thermally activated fracture of porous media
The lifetime of a porous media, submitted to a constant subcritical stress, is studied by means of a numerical model. This model is based on a spring network where the porosity is represented by missing springs. The dynamics is produced adding thermal fluctuations in spring forces.
