Unstable Density-Driven Flow in Fractured Porous Media: The Fractured Elder Problem
The Elder problem is one of the well-known examples of an unstable density-driven flow (DDF) and solute transport in porous media. The goal of this research is to investigate the influence of fracture networks on this benchmark problem due to the great ...

Isolated fractures usually exist in fractured media systems, where the capillary pressure in the fracture is lower than that of the matrix, causing the discrepancy in oil recoveries between fractured and non-fractured porous media.

Simulation and Interpretation of Multiphase Processes in Porous and Fractured-Porous Media [PDF]
A numerical model concept for simulating multi phase flow processes is presented. The conceptual model involves the approximation of heterogeneous porous and fractured porous media, by application of one-, two- and threedimensional elements in space that can be combined arbitrarily in a single model.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Modeling Fractures and Barriers as Interfaces for Flow in Porous Media [PDF]
Summary: We consider a fractured porous medium that is studied at a scale such that the fractures can be modeled individually. Models for flow in which the fractures are interfaces between subdomains are presented. These models take into account interactions between the fractures and the surrounding porous medium.
