Osteochondral Fracture Fixation With Fragment Preserving Suture Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2020
Osteochondral fractures are relatively uncommon injuries that typically present after an acute or subacute traumatic injury. Osteochondral fracture fixation is traditionally performed in the acute setting with internal fixation procedures using pins or ...

Double‐Sided Mechanical Interlocking Enables Soft‐Rigid Conductive Interfaces With a Record High Toughness for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A double‐sided mechanical interlocking strategy is developed to create robust electrical contact between polymer electrode and metal interconnect. The fibrous structure enables formation of thread–hole adhesion, which only breaks under bulk failure and achieves a record high interfacial energy exceeding 730 J·m−2. This adhesion secures the integrity of

Internal fixation of acute scaphoid proximal pole & waist fractures using the dorsal mini open technique without bone grafting

open access: yesMedicine Science, 2023
The navicular bone of the hand is the most frequently fractured bone among the carpal bones, and if not treated well, it may result in nonunion. Dorsal, volar open, or percutaneous approaches can be used in surgical treatment.

Osteoarticular Open Flake Fracture Refixation: The “Parachute” Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Osteochondral fractures of the patella, also known as “flake fractures,” frequently occur after patellar dislocation. In such fractures, a piece of patellar cartilage with subchondral bone breaks off due to patellar dislocation or subsequent reposition ...

An Implantable Optogenetics‐Engineered Hydrogel for Amelioration of Rheumatoid Arthritis through Light‐Controlled Metabolic Reprogramming of Synovial Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An implantable hydrogel is designed to enable in situ and on‐demand secretion of GLP‐1 in synovium through blue light irradiation to activate GLP‐1R/HK2/VDAC1 pathway for upregulating tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation in macrophage, facilitating tissue repair and bone erosion recovery.

Clinical value of MRI in evaluating and diagnosing of humeral lateral condyle fracture in children

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2021
Background Humeral lateral condyle fractures (HLCFs) are common paediatric fractures. Radiographs are hard to accurately evaluate and diagnose the damage of articular epiphyseal cartilage in HLCFs.

Evaluation of fracture toughness of cartilage by micropenetration

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 2004
Failure properties of cartilage are important in injury repair and disease, but few methods exist for measuring these properties, especially in small animals. To meet this need, a new indentation/penetration method for measuring fracture toughness of cartilage is proposed. During indentation, a conical tip is displaced into the surface of the cartilage,

Bioadhesive Hydrogel With Polyphenol‐Armored Nanogene Rejuvenates Chondrocyte Senescence for Aged Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An adhesive hydrogel depot with polyphenol‐armored nanogenes is developed for treating aged osteoarthritis. This system maintains miR‐140 bioactivity, prolongs its intra‐articular retention, and enhances transfection into chondrocytes, leading to the downregulation of senescence‐associated pathways.

Proteome analysis of human mesenchymal stem cells undergoing chondrogenesis when exposed to the products of various magnesium-based materials degradation

open access: yesBioactive Materials, 2019
Treatment of physeal fractures (15%–30% of all paediatric fractures) remains a challenge as in approximately 10% of the cases, significant growth disturbance may occur. Bioresorbable Magnesium-based implants represent a strategy to minimize damage (i.e.,
