Malunited Colles’ Fracture

Journal of Hand Surgery, 1994
To try to explain disability in the wrist after malunited Colles’ fractures, an experiment was designed to evaluate pressure distribution through the wrist joint with varying degrees of angulation of the distal radius. The results of computer simulation analysis of stress concentration using finite element methods were compared with those of pressure ...

The Effect of Malunited Scaphoid Fractures on Joint Congruency

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2021
Although the consequences of scaphoid nonunion have been well-established, the implications of malunions are not well-known. To date, malunions have mainly been studied with 2-dimensional imaging. The objective of this study was to employ 3-dimensional computed tomography (CT) imaging and inter-bone distance mapping to determine the implications of a ...

Missed, Maluniting, and Malunited Fractures of the Lateral Humeral Condyle in Children

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1978
Five cases of fracture of the lateral humeral condyle in children are described to illustrate the importance of recognition and proper management of this injury. The cases represent different degrees of severity of this injury. Failure of recognition of this fracture leads to serious late complications.

Fibular Lengthening for Malunited Ankle Fractures

Foot & Ankle International, 2008
Background: Malunited ankle fractures are uncommon. They produce symptoms of persistent pain, joint effusion, limitation of dorsiflexion and eventually lead to ankle arthritis. We feel that correction of the ankle alignment can improve the final outcome and present our results.

Managing Severely Malunited Calcaneal Fractures and Fracture-Dislocations

Foot and Ankle Clinics, 2020
Severe calcaneal malunions are debilitating conditions owing to substantial hindfoot deformity with subtalar arthritis and soft tissue imbalance. Type III malunions are best treated with a subtalar distraction bone block fusion. Additional osteotomies may be required for severe varus or superior displacement of the calcaneal tuberosity.

Revision of malunited ankle fractures

Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, 2004
Malunion of an ankle fracture can lead to considerable pain and loss of function. Restoration of the normal anatomical alignments can restore function and minimize the onset of degeneration that will lead to severe arthrosis requiring an arthrodesis. This article outlines common causes of ankle malunion and treatment options.

Extension osteotomy in malunited clavicular fractures

Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 1998
The association of a malunited clavicular fracture with a pattern of disability that includes not only pain but also impairment of shoulder function is rare. But in cases where such an association exists, correction of the clavicular deformity should be considered.

MALUNITED COLLES' FRACTURES

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1937
Malunion occurs more frequently following Colles' fractures than any other fracture. There is considerable disability, pain and deformity associated with this lesion, and the disfigurement is particularly unsightly in women. My object in this discussion is to present a surgical procedure which accomplishes restoration of anatomic alinement and function
