Wood Reconfiguration Enables Broadband Blackbody in Large‐Area, Modular, Optically Welded Carbon Constructs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wood‐based broadband blackbody is achieved by reconfiguration of wood with lignin nanoparticles prior carbonization. Neglectable reflectivity from the visible to infrared wavelengths is obtained by combining thin nanostructures originated from the wood cell walls with long‐range microcavities in the wood lumina.

Self-injurious behaviour in individuals with autism spectrum disorder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been identified as a risk marker for self-injurious behaviour. In this study we aimed to describe the prevalence, topography and correlates of self-injury in individuals with ASD in contrast to individuals ...

Updated report on tools to measure outcomes of clinical trials in fragile X syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, 2017
Fragile X syndrome (FXS) has been the neurodevelopmental disorder with the most active translation of preclinical breakthroughs into clinical trials. This process has led to a critical assessment of outcome measures, which resulted in a comprehensive ...

Scalable Perovskite Quantum Dot Glass Nanocomposites for High‐Efficiency Luminescent Solar Concentrators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the scalability of PQD GNC‐based LSCs for BIPV applications. Experimental data and Monte Carlo simulations predict performance up to 1 m2, achieving a peak power conversion efficiency of 3.17%. The results confirm the viability of these LSCs for energy‐efficient building applications.

Voltage-independent SK-channel dysfunction causes neuronal hyperexcitability in the hippocampus of Fmr1 knock-out mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Neuronal hyperexcitability is one of the major characteristics of fragile X syndrome (FXS), yet the molecular mechanisms of this critical dysfunction remain poorly understood. Here we report a major role of voltage-independent potassium (

New polymorphic DNA marker close to the fragile site FRAXA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
DNA from a human-hamster hybrid cell line, 908-K1B17, containing a small terminal portion of the long arm of the human X chromosome as well as the pericentric region of 19q was used as starting material for the isolation of an X-chromosome-specific DNA ...

Genetic/Environmental Influences in Fragile X Disease

open access: yesPediatric Neurology Briefs, 2002
The genetic and environmental factors influencing cognitive outcomes in 120 children (80 boys and 40 girls) with the fragile X full mutation and their unaffected siblings were determined by in-home evaluations and reported from the Departments of ...

Molecular‐Level Dual‐Ionophilic Passivation for High‐Areal‐Capacity Lithium Metal Anodes on Nanostructured Paper Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The effect of a molecular‐level dual‐ionophilic chitosan passivation layer is investigated on a nanostructured paper electrode featuring an interconnected network structure of highly oxygen‐functionalized single‐walled carbon nanotubes (C‐NPE). This molecular coating enabled a high Coulombic efficiency (>99.0%) and stable cycling over 350 cycles at an ...
