Fragility curve modifiers for reinforced concrete dual buildings, including nonlinear site effects and soil–structure interaction

, 2020
We investigate the influence of soil–structure interaction (SSI) and nonlinear soil behavior on the seismic fragility of reinforced concrete (RC) dual (frame + shear wall) buildings resting on shallow foundations.

Intensity measure conversion of fragility curves

Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 2020
SummaryIn seismic risk assessment of structures, fragility functions are the probabilistic characterization of vulnerability at the component and/or structural level, expressing the probability of failure as a function of a ground motion intensity measure (IM).

Review on the fragility functions for performance assessment of engineering structures

5TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INNOVATIVE DESIGN, ANALYSIS & DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES IN AEROSPACE & AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING: I-DAD’22, 2023
The fragility functions are used to assess the vulnerability of several infrastructure facilities due to natural hazards. Damage vulnerability assessment using fragility functions has started in early 90's.

Functional Fragility Curves for Production Capacity

2021
In this chapter, the “Functional fragility curve (FFC)” was proposed to directly capture the relationship between seismic intensity and the probability of exceeding the damaged states relating to the business activity level. The statistical characteristics of the FFC were investigated based on the data accumulated after the two earthquakes in Japan ...

E-Cloud: Efficient seismic fragility assessment of structures based on enhanced cloud analysis

Earthquake spectra, 2022
Cloud analysis is based on linear regression in the logarithmic space using least squares, in which a large number of nonlinear dynamic analyses are required to ensure the regression accuracy.

Generation of hazard-consistent fragility curves

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 1994
Abstract This paper presents an analytical method for generating fragility curves of structures. In the proposed method, seismic sources, path attenuation, local soil conditions, and nonlinear building behavior are systematically considered. The uncertainties in the earthquake-site-structure system are quantified by considering the uncertainties in ...

Fragility Curves of RC Bridges in México

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2022
Large earthquakes have epicenters on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and many of them are responsible of damages in reinforced concrete (RC) bridges. The Pacific Coast is a highly active seismic zone where most of the strong earthquakes in the country occur.

Fragility Curves for Residential Masonry Chimneys

Earthquake Spectra, 2018
Chimney behavior is studied via computer simulations to quantify the effects of specific parameters, including chimney height above roof, masonry flexural tensile strength, chimney section dimensions, vertical steel reinforcement, and chimney-house anchorage strength. All of these parameters are found to affect performance.

Seismic risk assessment of RC curved bridges through fragility curves

IABSE Reports, 2019
<p>It is of great importance that traffic network is still functioning in post- earthquake period, so that interventions in emergency situations are not delayed. Bridges are part of the traffic system that can be considered as critical for adequate post-earthquake response.

Seismic fragility assessment of multi-span concrete highway bridges in British Columbia considering soil–structure interaction

Canadian journal of civil engineering (Print), 2020
Fragility curve is an effective tool for identifying the potential seismic risk and consequences during and after an earthquake. Recent seismic events have shown that bridges are highly sensitive and vulnerable during earthquakes.
