Celestial Reference Frames [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1980
AbstractA celestial reference frame is based on some dynamical or kinematic approximation of an absolute coordinate system and is materialized by a fundamental catalogue of stars. It is characterized by the accuracy of the system and the precision of its stellar realization. The present situation, marked by the construction of the FK5 system and ...

A relative frame of reference underlies reversed depth perception in anticorrelated random-dot stereograms.

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2017
Binocular disparity is represented by interocular cross-correlation of visual images in the striate and some extrastriate cortices. This correlation-based representation produces reversed depth perception in a binocularly anticorrelated random-dot ...

Status of the International Gravity Reference System and Frame

open access: yesJournal of Geodesy, 2021
The increasing importance of terrestrial gravimetry in monitoring global change processes, in providing a reference for satellite measurements and in applications in metrology necessitates a stable reference system reflecting the measurement accuracy ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Sophisticated Thinking: Higher Order Thinking Skills

open access: yesJournal of Language and Education, 2015
The information-based society determines that the key factor to achieve success is the development of sophisticated thinking. That said, the thinking process cannot be just a mere imitation of cognitive work, since the digital age requires the authentic ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Why Not Just Features? Reconsidering Infants’ Behavior in Individuation Tasks

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2020
It counts as empirically proven that infants can individuate objects. Object individuation is assumed to be fundamental in the development of infants’ ontology within the object-first account.

Proper Mass of the Universe

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2021
A modification of the covariant theory based on the concept of the proper mass (mass distribution) of the system is proposed. The proper mass is a special dynamic quantity that forms a fundamental frame of reference for measuring proper time and spatial
