Power to the frame: Bringing sociology back to frame analysis
European Journal of Communication, 2011This article critically reviews current frame and framing research in media and communication studies. It is first argued that most authors fail to distinguish between ‘frame’ and ‘framing’ and therewith produce a conceptual confusion and imprecision that is not conducive to the field. Second, it is argued that current frame and framing research ignore

Frame by Frame Analysis of Glottic Insufficiency Using Laryngovideostroboscopy
Journal of Voice, 2012Glottic insufficiency (GI) can be either grossly obvious or subtle in its presentation. Subtle GI is demonstrated by various Laryngovideostroboscopic (LVS) clues, including complete but "short" phase closure of the true vocal folds (VFs) during the glottic cycle.

Wavelets with Frame Multiresolution Analysis
Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications, 2003Let \(A\) be a \(d\times d\) real expansive matrix, i.e., a matrix whose eigenvalues are all of modulus greater than 1. Then a function \(\psi \in L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\) is an \(A\)-\textit{dilation wavelet} if the system \(|\text{det} A|^{n/2} \psi (A^n x - l)\), \(n\in \mathbb{Z}\), \(l\in \mathbb{Z}^d\), forms an orthonormal basis for \(L^2(\mathbb{R ...

Multiscaling frame multiresolution analysis and associated wavelet frames
International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing, 2020Frame multiresolution analysis (FMRA) in [Formula: see text] is an important topic in frame theory and its applications. In this paper, we consider the so-called multiscaling FMRA in [Formula: see text], which has matrix dilations and a finite number of scaling functions.

Multiresolution analysis frames with applications
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993A generalization of multiresolution analysis (MRA) to arbitrary affine frames, and the constructions of affine frames based on MRAs are considered and characterized. The authors define a frame multiresolution analysis (FMRA) and provide a necessary and sufficient condition for constructing frames of translates.

Business and biodiversity: A frame analysis
Ecosystem Services, 2014It is often stated that business has a key role to play in the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems. Various instruments are developed that enable businesses to assess their impact and dependence on ecosystem services. Actual use of these instruments remains limited.

Shakedown Analysis for Trusses and Frames
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1997The kinematic method is applied to study the shakedown behavior of certain bar structures subjected to variable loads. For trusses, the possible elastic instability of a thin bar in compression is taken into account. In the case of frames, the possibility of formulating the problem in generalized variables is explored.

Analysis of Frame Partitioning in HEVC
2014The paper presents analysis of frame partitioning in the next generation video coding standard HEVC. Complex study on frequency of the particular coding unit, prediction unit and transform unit sizes selection made by the encoder compliant with HEVC technology is included.
