Beyond Brunhild: reassessing women in the Fredegar Chronicle

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, EarlyView.
Scholarly consideration of women in the seventh‐century Fredegar chronicle has long been dominated by the author’s hostility towards Brunhild, queen of Austrasia. Statistical analysis of Latin world chronicles before ad 900, however, shows that Fredegar’s representation of women was unusually high within this tradition.

service-oriented approach for interactive computing systems

open access: yesPublicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología, 2011
The introduction of new technologies leads to a more and more complex interactive systems design. In order to describe the future interactive system, the human computer interaction domain uses specific models, design processes and tools in order to ...

Generalised connections and higher-spin equations

open access: yes, 2012
We consider high-derivative equations obtained setting to zero the divergence of the higher-spin curvatures in metric-like form, showing their equivalence to the second-order equations emerging from the tensionless limit of open string field theory ...

Geometric Second Order Field Equations for General Tensor Gauge Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Higher spin tensor gauge fields have natural gauge-invariant field equations written in terms of generalised curvatures, but these are typically of higher than second order in derivatives.

“THE NORMAL EXCEPTION”: EDOARDO GRENDI, MICROANALYSIS, AND GENERALIZATIONS*

open access: yesHistory and Theory, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT “The normal exception” has long been a slogan of microhistory. This oxymoronic phrase is the iconic rendering of an incidental sentence that appeared in a 1977 article by Edoardo Grendi. His article, titled “Micro‐analisi e storia sociale” (Microanalysis and Social History), is cited more often than it is read.

Le Corbusier. París, 1915. Construir dibujos, construir ciudades

open access: yesEGA

String Theory and The Velo-Zwanziger Problem

open access: yes, 2010
We examine the behavior of the leading Regge trajectory of the open bosonic string in a uniform electromagnetic background and present a consistent set of Fierz-Pauli conditions for these symmetric tensors that generalizes the Argyres-Nappi spin-2 result.

Old but Sold? Innovation Through Tradition Strategy for Export and the Role of Family Involvement

open access: yesJournal of Product Innovation Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the notable body of research, the family firm (FF) internationalization literature has overlooked the role of innovation strategies in explaining FFs' export performance. We focus on the innovation through tradition (ITT) strategy—specifically, the degree to which a firm leverages its firm‐specific, mature (i.e., past) knowledge in the

Bilinear Fourier restriction theorems

open access: yes, 2012
We provide a general scheme for proving $L^p$ estimates for certain bilinear Fourier restrictions outside the locally $L^2$ setting. As an application, we show how such estimates follow for the lacunary polygon.
