Extensive Field Observations Throw Light on the Evolution of Mimicry in <i>Camponotus lateralis</i> (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). [PDF]
Camponotus lateralis (C, D) mimics regional color morphs of Crematogaster (A, B). Field trips brought insights into ecology, trail sharing, sexual reproduction, colony foundation, nest defense, and predation pressure of this mimetic ant. We found that the mimicry is Batesian and suggest several preadaptations for its evolution.

Non-Invasive Monitoring of Hazel Dormouse (<i>Muscardinus avellanarius</i>): First Insights on Genetic Data Quality From the First Pilot Study. [PDF]
We evaluated a non‐invasive genetic sampling protocol for the hazel dormouse (Muscardinus avellanarius) using hair tubes deployed at 14 sites in the high Agri Valley to assess DNA degradation and individual genotyping efficiency. A seven‐locus microsatellite panel was highly informative and provided adequate power for individual discrimination, but ...
