MHD free convective flow past a vertical plate

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2017
The free convective flow in incompressible viscous fluid past a vertical plate is studied under the presence of magnetic field. The flow is considered along the vertical plate at x-axis in upward direction and y-axis is taken normal to it. The governing equations are written in vector form.

Recent Evidence for Convection in Sunspot Penumbrae

open access: yes, 2008
Whereas penumbral models during the last 15 years have been successful in explaining Evershed flows and magnetic field inclination variations in terms of flux tubes, the lack of contact between these models and a convective process needed to explain the ...

Free convective Darcy flow induced by a temperature gradient in a hemispherical porous medium

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2018
Assuming the validity of the Darcy model, the steady-state development of the flow and heat transfer induced by a temperature gradient in a hemispherical porous medium with a free surface is investigated using a semi-analytical method.

Decomposition driven interface evolution for layers of binary mixtures: {II}. Influence of convective transport on linear stability

open access: yes, 2010
We study the linear stability with respect to lateral perturbations of free surface films of polymer mixtures on solid substrates. The study focuses on the stability properties of the stratified and homogeneous steady film states studied in Part I [U ...

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Free convective MHD Cattaneo-Christov flow over three different geometries with thermophoresis and Brownian motion

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2017
The knowledge of heat and mass transfer of MHD flows over different geometries is very important for heat exchangers design, transpiration, fiber coating, etc. With this initiation, a mathematical model is proposed to investigate the two-dimensional flow,

A numerical study of the longitudinal thermoconvective rolls in a mixed convection flow in a horizontal channel with a free surface

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a numerical study of three-dimensional laminar mixed convection within a liquid flowing on a horizontal channel heated uniformly from below. The upper surface is free and assumed to be flat.
