Free-Form Deformation Axis Aligned Bounding Box

2009
We present a new efficient collision-handling technique of free-form deformation (FFD) of an embedded surface. By adapting FFD, modeling deformation has been substantially simplified to make possible interactive rate animation of a deformable object even for a complex embedded mesh.

Multiple-Points Constraints Based Deformation for Free-Form Surfaces

Volume 1: 25th Design Automation Conference, 1999
Abstract There is an increasing demand in the conceptual design for more intuitive methods for creating and modifying free-form curves and surfaces in CAD modeling systems. The methods should be based not only on the change of the mathematical parameters but also on the user’s specified constraints and shapes.

Non-rigid registration using free-form deformations

2015
Free-form deformations are a powerful geometric modeling technique which can be used to represent complex 3D deformations. In recent years, free-form deformations have gained significant popularity in algorithms for the non-rigid registration of medical images.

Free-form deformation of constructive shell models

Computer-Aided Design, 2003
Free-form deformation (FFD) is known to be a powerful technique for deforming an object independent of its representation. A point on a solid is deformed by specifying the point relative to a coordinate system defined with a lattice of control points. Adjusting the control points of the lattice deforms the object.

Free-form Surface Design by Model Deformation and Image Sculpturing

1995
Conventional computer aided design systems have been well-developed for the design of general prismatic parts and simple free-form objects. However the available modelling tools and techniques are inadequate for highly “sculptured” objects. This paper presents a new approach for local surface design that provides a rapid and intuitive way to create ...
