Feedback control of unsupported standing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper presents the results of continuing work on feedback control of unsupported standing in paraplegia. Our experimental setup considers a situation in which all joints above the ankle are braced, and stabilising torque at the ankle is generated by

Field investigation of the effect of installation method on the shaft resistance of piles in clay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents the results of a series of field experiments performed to study the effect of installation method on the shaft resistance developed by a pile installed in soft clayey silt.

Piles for offshore wind turbines: A state of the art review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper considers the current state of the art for estimating the pull-out capacity of driven open-ended piles used to support wind turbine foundations founded on sand.

Instrumentation and Axial Load Testing of Displacement Piles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Despite the fact that results of many instrumented pile load tests have been reported in the literature, it is difficult to find well-documented instrumentation procedures that can be used when planning a load testing programme.

The thermal behaviour of three different auger pressure grouted piles used as heat exchangers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Three auger pressure grouted (APG) test piles were constructed at a site in Richmond, Texas. The piles were each equipped with two U-loops of heat transfer pipes so that they could function as pile heat exchangers.

Wave forces on cylindrical piles and pile groups : a critical review [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Includes bibliography. This thesis is a critical review of methods of predicting wave forces on vertical piles or groups of piles. It assigns different force prediction theories to different situations or flow regimes and analyses their advantages and ...

Ewing Sarcoma in Infants and Children Under 2 Years of Age: A French Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ewing sarcoma, the second most common primary bone cancer in children, requires intensive treatment that may lead to significant long‐term sequelae, particularly in infants. We retrospectively analyzed data from 1621 French patients treated between 1988 and 2015 within the EW88/93/97 or EE99 trials, focusing on 17 infants diagnosed before 24 ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Use of Pile Driving Analysis for Assessment of Axial Load Capacity of Piles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Driven piles are commonly used in foundation engineering. Pile driving formulae, which directly relate the pile set per blow to the capacity of the pile, are commonly used to decide whether an installed pile will have the designed capacity.

An experimental investigation of cyclically, axially loaded piles in sand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Bibliography: leaves 91-93.The research work involved the installation and cyclic load testing of large-scale pressure-grouted, instrumented piles in sand in the laboratory.
