Nonlinear forced and free vibrations in acoustic waveguides

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
Nonlinear acoustic theory is used to show that the cutoff frequencies and the resonant frequencies of modes in acoustic waveguides of finite length depend upon the mode amplitude. The amplitude εn, of mode n > 0, produced by a periodic piston motion of amplitude δn, is also determined.

On the free and forced vibration of structural frames

The analysis of free and forced vibration phenomena pertinent to the behaviour of structural frameworks requires the investigation of mathematical models which adequately represent input loads, structural stiffness, and output response. Research conducted over the last five years has centred upon the second of these three aspects.

Forced vibration of an axially moving free-free beam with internal resonance

Journal of Vibration and Control
In this paper, the nonlinear governing equations of motion for an axially moving cylindrical shell with free ends which modeled as a free-free beam are established by the generalized Hamilton’s principle for the first time. The Galerkin method and multiple-scale method are adopted to solve the governing equations.

Free and Forced Vibrations of a Linear Non‐Conservative System with Multiple Eigenvalues

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1980
AbstractThe paper shows the derivation of the response of a linear system governed by the equation A\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \ddot q $\end{document} + Bq̇ + Cq = Q(t), in which the square matrices A, B and C are real and constant, but not necessary symmetric or positive definite. In addition the special case of multiple
