Detrended fluctuation analysis: A scale-free view on neuronal oscillations
Recent years of research have shown that the complex temporal structure of ongoing oscillations is scale-free and characterized by long-range temporal correlations.

Spatiotemporal structure of Baltic free sea level oscillations in barotropic and baroclinic conditions from hydrodynamic modelling [PDF]
Free sea level oscillations in barotropic and baroclinic conditions were examined using numerical experiments based on a 3-D hydrodynamic model of the Baltic Sea.

On Free Oscillations of a Quadratic Nonlinear Oscillator [PDF]
A free oscillations of a system with one degree of freedom, caused either by the initial deviation from the stable equilibrium position or by the initial velocity provided by the oscillator in this position was considered. Analytical solutions of the nonlinear Cauchy problem for a second-order differential equation were constructed.

Detection of Mars Normal Modes From S1222a Event and Seismic Hum
We present the first detection of normal modes on Mars using the vertical records from InSight's broad‐band seismometer following the marsquake that occurred on sol 1222. The proposed catalog lists 60 potential eigenfrequencies between 3 and 12 mHz.

The question addressed is whether the free oscillations of a continuous system can be suppressed, or at least the total energy reduced, by applying external forces, using as example the linear undamped transverse oscillations of a uniform elastic string.

On the Countering of Free Vibrations by Forcing: Part II—Damped Oscillations and Decaying Forcing
The present two-part paper concerns the active vibration suppression for the simplest damped continuous system, namely the transverse oscillations of an elastic string, with constant tension and mass density per unit length and friction force ...
